Modern vehicles mount forward-facing cameras behind the windshield to power critical safety features. These cameras are so precise that being off by even a millimeter can cause them to miscalculate distances by several feet at highway speeds.
When a windshield is removed and replaced, the camera must be electronically recalibrated. It is physically impossible to remount it in the exact original position without this step.
